We had an amusement park called kiddieland, which like the name sounds, had rides for small children. One day we were driving past it (we had not been to it yet). I saw the roller coaster running, it was the closest ride to the street. Right out of the clear blue sky I said " boy, I'll bet that would make your bowels move." I did not even know what that meant. I had obviously heard someone say something about a bowel movement and it just popped out of my mouth at that particular time. Mom and dad just about cracked up! I didn't understand why until some time later.
We did go to kiddieland one day and of course the first ride I rode was the roller coaster. It soon became my favorite ride. I mean, who wants to sit in a boat or a car and just roll around in a circle. Not me , that's for sure.

I remember you riding roller coasters when we went to amusment parks. I also recall with shame Laura rode the roller coasters with you before I did. Once again....I did not get that daredevil gene.
ReplyDeleteI was in my mid 30s before I rode a loop roller coaster and can ride about anything now that does not spin. The teacups at Disney World are pretty much my worst nightmare.
What you may not realize is that although I rode many many roller coasters in my youth and early sdult life, I had never been on one that made loops. I had been avoiding them quite successfully because you didn't want to ride them anyway.Dad of course didn't want anything to do with them. Well the time came when Laura wanted to ride one, it had a couple loops in it. I hedged about it by saying whe wasn't tall enough. She walked up to the sign that shows how tall you have to be and she was right on the line!! Well, I was needled and goaded to go with her and you know what--it wasn't bad at all. It went so fast that the loop was over before you knew it was happening!lol
ReplyDeletethat is so funny
ReplyDeleteMom and dad thought it was hilarious, it was quite some time for me to know exactly what it meant.
